Niamh & Scott
It was such a pleasure to be able to tell Niamh and Scott’s winter wedding story. Childhood sweethearts, having been together since they were at school, it was obvious how in love and in tune they were with each other.
After a beautiful ceremony at St Martin’s Catholic church, the bride and groom took a walk through the fog in the woods. The late autumnal colours, coupled with the thick fog, created a beautiful backdrop for some portraits before they headed on to meet their guests at their black tie reception. So much effort had gone into the decor and detail of their uniquely blacked out, Christmasy marquee. The room was lit by the soft festive glow of twinkly lights and candle light and every table had its own beautifully decorated Christmas centre piece. It really was an elegant and atmospheric marquee.
After some truly hilarious speeches, I took Niamh and Scott out into the thick fog again for some night portraits. You could have thought it would be disappointing to have fog on your wedding day, but we just used it and some specialist lighting to our advantage, to create some stunning silhouetted portraits. Later on, after the first dance, the marquee became a buzzing dance floor with streaming lights and an amazing party atmosphere. There was so much energy, love and fun - it really was a pleasure to photograph.
